ABOUT HOUSING

While you are in New York

Students coming to New York for the NYSP semester always find housing. Either by teaming up and sharing, by taking over apartments used by students returning home after the previous semester or by staying with friends or family in the New York metropolitan area.

Most student accommodations are found on craigslist, others by looking for Brooklyn apartments through Location Location Location. If you prefer residence-type housing we highly recommend booking a room in a student residence found at studenthousing.org.

An NYSP applicant wrote on the Forum page “I booked a place at the New Yorker Hotel in Manhattan through www.studenthousing.org/residence/new-yorker-hotel. It's a fully furnished hotel pretty much, but half the floors are for students. I'm paying $8,000 for the semester for a double room. It's at 8th Avenue and 34th St and it's just a subway ride away from the NYSP at 20 Jay Street in Brooklyn.”

It will reassure you to know that no student has ever gone homeless and that now that we are in Brooklyn it has become even more convenient. As soon as we know all the students who are coming for your semester, we email a list of contact information to everyone coming in case you want to ask to share an apartment or look for one together. This has been a notable success.
